Picture book by Diego di Lorenzo
The artist: Diego di Lorenzo was born in Brescia, Italy. Since he was a student at the University of Milan in the early '80s, he's been travelling in order to photograph the diverse characteristics of human beings, ethnic groups, small tribes, and religious practices all around the world. With his Contax 24x36 and a bag full of Kodachrome 64, he searches for human ethnicities with unique features.
The scientist: Diego is a molecular biologist and nutritionist. He has been working as a scientist in several high-level institutions around the world. He is the author of several research studies funded by the European Commission and published in reputed scientific journals.

Book: Aarti Brahman
The theme of this book is due to the great interest Diego di Lorenzo has in spiritual arguments and the aesthetics that different religions and spiritual practices show. His interest in the Indian culture and its spiritual manifestation has been cultivated for years since he first travelled to Varanasi in 1975 to get in direct contact with the teaching of the Veda and where, in particular, he discovered the teaching of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Diego has been practicing TM and the TM-Sidhi Program since then. This passion brought him to all parts of the world, where he created collections of portraits that show the beauty of several human cultures.
The book presented here "Aarti Brahman - The fire of India" is dedicated to the searchers of the absolute truth following the teachings of the Vedic literature. Almost all the photos are portraits taken in studio of sadhus, devotees met at religious festivals and symbols of the Indian philosophy. The photos depicted in this book will be presented at a personal exhibition next January the 8th, at the Museum of the Italian Photography, (MACOF), Brescia, Italy.
